It jus kinda occured to us that tomorrow's NATIONAL DAY, well, if i'm in Singapore, it's nothing much to hype about. I don't know if it's cos of the fact that we are away from home, it kinda hits us hard that we are overseas and not back home watching the NDP parade at home or wearing red or something that signifies the day or perhaps if one works in the retail line, we would prolly have to work on the day so nothin much bout it as well.

As me and Huimin were reminiscing about past NDP songs and watching videos on Youtube and singing along, we began searching for past songs that left a huge impression on us. We were just talking about it and realised that we are kinda thinking of the same songs, specifically sung by Tanya Chua, Stefanie Sun as well as Kit Chan. It's surprising that we can actually remember the lyrics after so many yrs.

Honestly speaking, once u step out of the education system, namely secondary school for me, u kinda just lose track of which theme songs are for which year. Just take for instance, there was a year that was sung by Kaira Gong, we only know it when we searched for it on Youtube.

Something that's really close to my heart is this song by Tanya Chua, particlarly for me mainly because although i'm technically not a Singaporean, but i was born and bred in this tiny red dot on the map, i grew up in the environment, known friends that makes a difference in my life and friends that became close buds and sisters, as well as known a whole lot of other people that has made an impact in my life. This song was sung when i was Sec 3, ah, those PYSS days, the most happening, happiest, crappiest, shittiest, all those tears, sweat, definately the most significant part of my life. A chapter of my life that is bookmarked and flipped back every now and then to think about those times that i've had.

And being here in Australia now, there are lots of people that are thinking of staying here after graduation, be it permanently or for a few years, for me, the thought never really crossed my mind, home is where i wanna be, and although i've made a lot of good friends, ultimately, nothing beats being home with my family and friends, and people/place i am familiar with. Not that i am not thankful for this valuable life experience but, i really can't wait to be home.

oh yeah, another song is the one when i was in Sec 4 by Stefanie Sun, the one where there was a dance to it, i remembered that i was trying to memorise the steps and getting my friends to do it with me but they were all reluctant to do so...
